Pool maintenance
The most essential in the maintenance of the pool is a properly functioning maintenance installation.
A properly functioning system has been calculated to filter the pool water within four hours (using sand), three times every 24 hours.
If the installation isn’t functioning properly due to air, which can be identified by air bubbles floating in the filter of the pump, the pressure drops and the pump can no longer achieve its capacity, which will lead to increasing filter times.
When replacing sand, one should take into account that, in case of an old system, the gasket at the filter interior for the supply pipe of the filter water, has been affected by chemicals.
When disconnecting the filter, the gasket might break, which occurs if the connection doesn’t come off. In case of doubt, the best thing to do is to manually replace the sand, if possible.
Apart from human bacteria, the outdoor pool is also contaminated by loose dirt caused by high winds. Rain also seriously affects the water. In particular in the vicinity of refineries, the pollution in the air is considerably higher than normal which leads to the pollution ending up in the pool with the help of rain.
Sunscreen and other cosmetics can also significantly affect the water. All these factors together, create a serious challenge with regard to keeping a pool clean with traditional sand.
Additional factors are the black and green algae that can cause a lot of problems, in particular during the hottest periods of the year, and infestation by algae in the long term.
